D-Facto Filmstudio is owned by award-winning filmmaker, Michelle Paymar. Her independent work has screened at festivals around the world and she has extensive credits as a producer, director, and writer for documentary and non-fiction television programs for NBC, ABC, CBS, PBS, CBC, MTV, CTV, History, Travel, Discovery, and other major broadcasters.

Paymar's assignments span the globe, encompassing a wide range of genres and subjects including news and current affairs, history, wildlife, human rights, the environment, health, popular culture, film, travel, music, and more. 

Paymar's independent films include her pioneering AIDS documentary, For Our Lives, and Sippie, a documentary portraid of blues artist, Sippie Wallace (co-directed & co-produced with Roberta Grossman).

She received a Master of Fine Arts degree in Film Directing from the American Film Institute and a BA from the University of California, Berkeley. 

Paymar is a member of the International Documentary Association, Women in Film, and the Director's Guild of America.
